‘Light, time and the breath, that’s what I notice. I have been diligently playing this game for decades. I am an observer. I am a photographer. I will always remain curious and fascinated by what lies beneath and within’. 

Caroline Rooke had been an established professional portrait and events photographer for over twenty years before returning to education and pivoting her practice to fine art. She has seen her photography effortlessly shift from people to our natural environment, being as taken with the different expressions of trees, clouds and water as she is with faces. An intrinsic aspect of Caroline’s photography is to engage with image-making as a mindful practice. Her aim is to create work that brings to light the truth of our inherent nature and our connectedness to now. In the work exhibited here, Caroline draws upon the nature of water to express key components of her meditation practice.
